andy + winter wedding | los angeles wedding photographer

Now this wedding was a wedding I had been waiting for! Being able to document an important chapter of Andy and Winter’s transatlantic love story with their beautiful wedding was such an honor.

Andy, a London native, and Winter, a Los Angeles native, first met at the wedding of Andy’s brother and Winter’s friend. Some time later, they connected on Facebook and thus began their friendship. After many Facebook messages and Skype conversations, their friendship blossomed and they began dating. Then in June, Andy flew all the way to Los Angeles to surprise Winter. While on a prayer walk with her mother and close friend, Andy walked up to whisk Winter away. He took her to a quiet spot overlooking the Pacific Ocean where he presented her with a book he created that chronicled their relationship together, and it also included a photo from the first time he saw her, at his brother’s wedding. After Winter concluded the book, Andy got on one knee and proposed. It was so beautiful! So after photographing this wonderful proposal, I was naturally over the moon when they asked me to photograph their wedding:)

So a few weeks ago, in front of their close friends and family, Andy and Winter were married at the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles.

happy new year! | los angeles wedding photographer

Happy 2015 everyone! In the spirit of it being a brand new year, with the feeling of making a fresh start and beginning anew, I’ve decided to make a new year’s resolution (I know you all have been waiting on pins and needles to see what Courtney resolves to do in 2015, right ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). My one and only official new year’s resolution is to…*drum roll please*…blog! You’ve heard it here first ๐Ÿ˜€

There has been so much that has happened since my last blog posting! I’ve been a little bit of a world traveler, having gone to India, England, and France. There have been some absolutely amazing weddings that I’ve had the privilege to photograph and I can’t wait to share them all with you. In the coming weeks, I will get you all caught up with what’s been happening over the past year.

But stay tuned for the next blog post which will be featuring Andy and Winter’s beautiful wedding that took place at First Congregational Church of Los Angeles. Here’s a behind-the-scenes photo of me photographing the lovely Winter, photo courtesy of her mother! Thanks for the photo, Ms. Florestine!:)

stay tuned… | los angeles, bahamas, + kansas city wedding photographer

What a fantastic summer this has been! So much has happened. I celebrated my 7th 21st birthday back in June, I flew on an airplane 10 times within a matter of 12 weeks, I got baptized, I got one serious tan (actually multiple serious ones–it’s that good ol’ Southern California sun), I traveled outside of the United States for the first time ever to shoot my first destination wedding in the Bahamas, and I got to shoot two more spectacularly awesome weddings back home in Kansas City.

So you all stay tuned! I have three weddings to update you all on and it’s gonna be AWESOOOOME.

brandon + alanna engagement | kansas city engagement and wedding photographer

If you know me, you know that I am a sucker for a good proposal story. When Alanna told me about the way Brandon proposed, I swooned! Brandon, who met Alanna a few years ago while working with her, proposed this past in February. The weekend following Valentine’s Day, Alanna’s family (her grandmother, brother, niece, and mother) all came to town to visit. Alanna found this to be odd because they never usually come visit at the same time. All that day, Alanna’s mother kept talking about how much she wanted to go the movies, so everyone went to the the theater to see Identity Theft. When the Identity Theft concluded, a subsequent video of Alanna and Brandon and Alanna’s family began playing on the screen. Right then, Brandon stood up and proposed. When the lights in the theater came on, Alanna looked up and saw more of her family and friends in the audience who got to see the whole proposal!

Being able to photograph Alanna and Brandon’s engagement session a couple of weeks ago was such a privilege! I remembered Alanna from my days at the University of Kansas and learned that Brandon and I went to the same high school (he was a rookie/8th grader when I was a senior). So based off of those two things alone, I KNEW they were gonna be awesome and they in fact were.:)

We started off our session in the West Bottoms in Kansas City, Missouri.

I think at this point I may have told them to imitate one another through a facial expression lol.

And to conclude the session, we ended in the Crossroads district.

alex + ashleigh engagement | kansas city wedding photographer

Alex and Ashleigh make me so happy! They had me laughing the entire time during their engagement session and they even entertained my immense dorky-ness/corny-ness, so of course that earned them 1,000 brownie points, lol. They have so much fun together and their happiness can’t help but to rub off on anyone that comes in contact with them.:)

Ashleigh, a native Kansan, met Alex when she moved to Massachusetts after graduating from the University of Kansas. She was out one night when she saw him and decided to approach him. When she went up to introduce herself to him, he didn’t respond. Alex said he couldn’t hear her when she introduced herself. Apparently they ended up hearing each other at some point in time because they’ve been together ever since ๐Ÿ˜€

We shot their engagement session in various places on the University of Kansas campus and throughout Lawrence, Kansas beginning at the mecca of college basketball, Allen Fieldhouse! Like just about every other Jayhawk, Ashleigh bleeds KU basketball. But Alex just doesn’t quite understand the passion that is KU Basketball! It won’t be long before he’s made into a believer though.

After leaving Allen Fieldhouse, we headed over to the cute little “love garage” on campus. I LOVE the love garage:)But I do think I love Alex and Ashleigh’s Zoolander impressions a little bit more! Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you…*drum roll*…Alex and Ashleigh’s rendition of Blue Steel:

Don’t really remember what was going on here, but I’m pretty sure this elicited an “AWWWWW” from me. Yep, pretty certain.

They went bowling on their first date so in honor of that, we went to the Jaybowl in the Kansas Union and took a few shots there.
